FVE Sound Advice: A Well Received Reception

When speaking with your entertainment provider, timing and organization are key points of discussion  to obtain a lasting impression with your guests.

A typical reception time layout happens as follows:

  1. Cocktail Hour
  2. Entrances
  3. Dinner
  4. Speeches
  5. Dances

Don’t be afraid to mix things up a little. Your guest and entertainer will feed off of your energy as you make your entrance. While the first 2 will not change, the remaining 3 can be blended and meshed together.

You can have your first dance as a married couple right after you enter. You can mix in your speeches in between courses. Do make sure you co-ordinate the timing with your entertainer and MC, even if you have a wedding planner on staff.

FVE DJ Services always advises our clients to have the MC go over the agenda on the night of prior to the start of service; to make sure any last minute timing changes are noted. One thing every one wants to avoid is dead air time during a reception.
